You can use Lyric Companion without creating an account or providing any personal information. All libretto content, IPA transcriptions, and dictionary features are available without sign-in.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used. GA4 is only activated if you accept cookies via the consent banner. When active, it collects:

• Page views and referrer URLs
• Country-level location (IP addresses are anonymized)
• Browser and device type
• Session duration and general usage patterns

No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected. Analytics data is used solely to improve the site.

Cookies & consent

Lyric Companion uses the following browser storage:

• Theme preference — stored in localStorage to remember your light/dark mode choice
• CSRF token — a session cookie used to protect form submissions from cross-site request forgery
• Cookie consent — stored in localStorage to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies
• Google Analytics cookies — set only if you accept analytics via the consent banner. These cookies help us understand aggregate usage patterns.

You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing the lc_cookie_consent key from your browser's localStorage, after which the consent banner will reappear on your next visit.

Sign-in

Lyric Companion offers optional Google Sign-In to enable features like saved preferences. If you sign in, we collect only your email address and display name. This data is used solely to identify your account and is not shared with third parties.

Data storage

Lyric Companion does not store any user-generated content on its servers. All libretto data is sourced from public collections and processed locally.
